Garden Decorations

We have a chain link fence (on the property when I bought it), and the neighbors have a privacy fence on their side. As you can see, it doesn't really look very good, so I decided to spruce it up a bit by adding some old windows to it. Even though it didn't hide the ugliness all the way, it did give a better focal point to our garden area.

  Notice that this is a new garden space that needs to be tilled again before we plant. Planting day is this  Tuesday for our cold weather plants!

I also bought a bag of .99 cents Easter eggs to be festive.

To make this, I just used ribbon as a hanger and purchased window clings to put on the windows. I also wrote "Love is a garden, let it grow" on the center window in dry-erase maker, but it didn't show up very well. I may paint that on later with craft paint.

New Bedroom Look

My very sweet dance team girls got us a gift card from Target, and after much debate and searching, we finally used it on this bedspread. My walls are already yellow, and Aaron's bedspread is in NO way  going to match, so it was either re-paint the walls or get a new comforter for when he moves is massive king-sized bed in. I used this mood board creator to see what everything will look like once it is together. Very helpful (and addicting)!!

Baby Picture Display

I've been to a lot of weddings that have some type of baby picture display. As far as I can tell, these displays don't really serve a purpose other than just being cute conversation pieces. Well, when I spotted these $2 school chairs at a local thrift store, I knew exactly how I would use them. I think they will serve both the "cute" and "conversation piece" purposes well.

Cold Frame

My handy fiance finished our cold frame today. :) We used two old windows for the top and front walls, and plywood on the other sides. Aaron thought that a painted brick finish would give it a better appearance. I think it turned out really nice and will serve its function very well!

Our Save-the-Dates

Since we are both teachers, I decided to go with a cutesy "school house" theme for our save-the-dates. My very honest friend, Jeremy, said when he got his (on Valentine's Day none the less) , he "threw up a little, but then smiled and was happy" haha  :)

To make this scene, I used  a heart shaped cookie cutter to punch out hearts from each apple. Then, I set up a handmade chalkboard behind it and wrote our wedding date. I used the books that we used in our engagement  pictures  to add height, and then I put all the pictures together with the collage option on Picasa.

Instead of mailing these photos out as postcards, we were brave and decided to send them out via email. I simply posted this picture in the email and added our wedding website underneath the photo. We got some really good feedback from it! Most of my friends admitted that they don't visit wedding websites that they have to type in, but they seemed to really like the convenience of just clicking ours!

DIY Garter

Time: 45 minutes

Supplies:
Stretch lace
Silk (I found an old pair of silk pants at a thrift store for .25 cents.
Decorative element (I used an old earring)
candle

Steps:

1. Cut circles out of silk
2. cut slits around circle to form petals

3. Burn edges of petals with candle (be careful!)

4. Once finished, sew the ends of your stretchy lace together and then hand stitch the petals to the center.
5. Add whatever decorative item you like

Copycat "Bride" Robe

I've really been wanting a robe like this for my wedding day:

But, I couldn't see spending $30-$50 dollars on one that I will just wear a few times. So, I made one myself! I got the white "silk" robe from Wal-Mart for $15.00 and spent $2.00 on the letters.

Time: 10 minutes

Supplies:
white robe
iron-on letters
iron

Steps:

1. Line the "I" up with the middle seem
2. Line the other letters up

3. Iron on

All done!
